Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026. By using ShopCart.ng, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility
ShopCart.ng is available to students and staff of accredited Nigerian tertiary institutions. You must be at least 18 years old to transact on the platform. By registering, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.
2. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your OTP, password, or login links with anyone. ShopCart.ng staff will never ask for your password. You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
3. Buying and Selling
Sellers must accurately describe their products including condition, defects and photos. Buyers agree to complete payment through our secure Paystack integration. Off-platform payments are strongly discouraged and are not protected by ShopCart.ng's buyer protection or escrow system.
4. Prohibited Items and Activities
You may not list or purchase: illegal items, prescription medications, weapons, counterfeit goods, adult content, stolen property, or items that violate your institution's code of conduct. You may not engage in fraud, harassment, review manipulation or the use of the platform to evade taxes. ShopCart.ng reserves the right to remove any listing and suspend any account at any time.
5. Payment and Escrow
All payments are processed via Paystack. Buyer funds are held in escrow until the buyer confirms receipt of the item. ShopCart.ng charges a 2% platform fee on the seller's payout. Withdrawal requests are processed within 1–3 business days. Chargebacks or payment disputes initiated directly with your bank may result in account suspension pending investigation.
6. Disputes and Refunds
If an item is not delivered or is significantly misrepresented, buyers may raise a dispute within 7 days of the delivery date. ShopCart.ng will mediate and may issue a refund at our discretion. Full details are available on our Returns & Refunds page.
7. Reviews and Feedback
Reviews must be honest and based on your genuine experience. Fake reviews, review manipulation, retaliatory reviews or threatening feedback are prohibited and may result in account suspension and removal of the review.
8. Intellectual Property
The ShopCart.ng name, logo, site design, blog content and code are the property of ShopCart.ng and are protected by Nigerian and international copyright law. Product listings, photos and descriptions submitted by sellers remain the property of the submitting user, but sellers grant ShopCart.ng a non-exclusive licence to display that content on the platform and in related marketing.
9. User-Generated Content
When you post a listing, message, review or any other content on ShopCart.ng, you represent that you own or have the right to share that content and that it does not violate any law or third-party right. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful to the community.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
ShopCart.ng is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that listings are accurate, that transactions will complete successfully, or that the platform will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShopCart.ng is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, fraudulent activity, or behaviour that harms other users. You may request account deletion at any time by emailing support@shopcart.ng. Upon termination, your access ends immediately but certain records (order history, disputes) may be retained for legal and accounting purposes.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute not resolved through our internal dispute resolution process will be subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of ShopCart.ng after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
